River Styx Records was founded by me (Jacob Wix) in the Autumn of 2022.

The drive to start this label came from the frustration at the fact that even if you sounded great, were seriously passionate and incredibly hard working, labels wouldn't even look at you unless you had the right amount of social media attention and would make them significant amounts of money.

With that in mind River Styx Records was created, immediately doing away with certain practices seen in most record labels that definitely don't benefit the artists. Things like huge advances that are difficult to pay back when the truth is that great producers and studio time has never been more affordable. Or maybe the so called '360 deals' where labels can take money from aspects of an artists earnings that they had nothing to do with and that artists rely on to live.

I have well over a decade of experience playing in bands and organising everything from PR for music releases to gig booking around the country. The label I've created focuses on sub-genres of Rock music because that's the music I know and love.
